The Polar Bear Swim has become an annual New Year’s Day event at the Loya Family YMCA and is a great way for families and individuals to ring in the new year in a fun way. What started out as a “let’s try it and see who will show up,” type of event has now evolved into a signature event at the YMCA and the unofficial start to the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. The Polar Bear Swim is for all ages and consists of several events: The Polar Bear Plunge, a timed 50 yard swim, the longest swim and the Corporate Cup, which is awarded to the company, group or organization with the most participation. Breakfast is also served at the Polar Bear Swim. |

Children’s Christmas Party |
In 2010, the YMCA of El Paso and Wal Mart teamed up to provide toys and fun for more than 300 children in the central El Paso community. Store employees help run activities for the children and a visit from Santa Claus provided holiday cheer to some of our less fortunate families. This is a great opportunity not only to sponsor with dollars, but for folks to get out and feel the difference they are making in the community! |
